A 33-year-old woman arrested late April 17 in Maricopa’s Homestead neighborhood was out of jail hours later, despite having the longest criminal record InMaricopa has reviewed in recent memory.
Jaden Richelle Kelsey was booked into the Pinal County jail after Maricopa police chased her home from Smith-Enke Road at midnight and discovered she was wanted on a felony warrant out of New Mexico, according to a probable cause statement.
Kelsey’s criminal history is remarkable, according to New Mexico and Arizona public records.
Her rap sheet starts with a juvenile burglary, then snowballs into decades of nonstop adult cases including (but not limited to) burglary, larceny, at least six stolen vehicles, felony drug possession including meth and distributing more than 100 pounds of synthetic cannabis, aggravated fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing officers, DUI, driving revoked after a DUI, concealing identity, making false reports, falsifying a vehicle title or registration, shoplifting, criminal damage, disorderly conduct, tampering with evidence, assault and battery against household members, threatening a police officer, battery on a police officer, assault on a police officer, aggravated assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon, and multiple firearms charges, including attempted possession of a destructive device by a felon, negligent use of a deadly weapon and a later felon-in-possession case.
Court records reviewed by InMaricopa show Kelsey has been a defendant in 35 criminal cases totaling more than 100 charges in Maricopa and Albuquerque, with new charges filed against her every year from 2012 through 2026.
According to police, the latest arrest began around 11:30 p.m., when an officer patrolling near Smith-Enke Road and Santa Cruz Drive saw a black Volvo S60 run a red light and continue east on Smith-Enke.
The officer initiated a traffic stop, but the driver continued through multiple places where she could have pulled over safely, according to the report. Police said the car turned onto Porter Road, then Novak Lane, then Lauren Road in Homestead before finally stopping in a driveway.
The probable cause statement says the driver got out and began walking toward the officer instead of staying in the vehicle. After ignoring commands to get back inside, she was detained in handcuffs, according to the report.
Police said Kelsey identified herself at the scene, and officers confirmed her identity through an MVD photo and by verifying her Social Security number. A records check then showed an active New Mexico felony warrant dated March 11 with a $5,000 bond, according to the statement.
The probable cause statement lists charges of obstructing police, reckless driving and driving without a license, plus a citation for running the red light.

inMaricopa should do an investigation into HOW this happens. Is it because our Jails are overcrowded? Is she Rich? (drives a Volvo) WHAT are the Police saying? Maybe she’s an informant. But trust me, I don’t like it. I personally know some people who get away with felonies because they’re friends of… (different story.)
She’ll be back flipping your burgers at cold beers and cheeseburgers in no time.
