(First InMaricopa) We’re learning more about what led to a weekend drive-by shooting in the Tortosa neighborhood.
Police arrested Nicholas Bogue, 34, on Saturday and charged him with opening fire at a house and car. While no one was hurt, the intended victim is known to Bogue, said the authorities.
According to a probable cause statement released today, Maricopa police officers responded to reports of gunfire around 2 p.m. at a home on Vemto Street. Detectives found multiple 9-millimeter shell casings and bullet strikes on a vehicle in the driveway and in the garage of the home.
Surveillance footage and traffic cameras led the authorities to identify Bogue as the suspect. Police say he was observed traveling northbound on State Route 347 and was pulled over around 3:30 p.m., where he was taken into custody.
During questioning, Bogue admitted to shooting at the victim’s vehicle, which was parked outside the home. According to the new police document, Bogue admitted that he used a 9-millimeter handgun, which police found inside his car.
“The incident appears to have been targeted and isolated,” said Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams.
In an interview, Bogue’s wife told officers that her husband had discovered that she had consensual sex with the victim the night before the shooting. She also provided officers with text messages between herself and the victim that appeared to support the claim.
Bogue remained in custody this afternoon.
