Maricopans flocked to Central Arizona College for free tattoos and life advice yesterday.
The You Matter Wellness Event & 5 Year Anniversary Celebration held by Northern Lights Therapy was a fun way to share mental health resources.
Seven guest speakers offered tips for parents, professionals and “for literally everything,” as clinical director Brianna Reinhold put it.
Meanwhile, vendors were doling out tattoos, pins and stickers. Organizations like Against Abuse, One-in-ten and The Veterans in Need Project attended the event.
Morgan Bennington of Glendale-based Double Down Tattoo had a long queue of Maricopans signed up for free tattoos. The complimentary ink kept people at the event longer, something Reinhold said she was glad about.
“Some people came for tattoos and then were sitting there and heard some of the speakers, and now they want to stay the whole day,” she said. “I want people to just start getting the information that nobody’s putting out there.”
The event went on for nine hours. Reinhold said she hoped every attendee learned something during that time.
“If they just take away anything, I am happy about that,” she said. “Let’s have more conversations; we need more of this stuff in our communities.”
