Teeple says Maricopa’s Melvin ‘has no experience’ to be sheriff

To the editor,

After serving 33 years in uniform, as a veteran in the U.S. Navy, an Arizona corrections officer and deputy sheriff for the past 17 years in Pinal County, I am the only candidate who has experience in the four primary duties of an Arizona county sheriff.

As the Republican candidate for Pinal County Sheriff, I am endorsed by both Sheriff Mark Lamb and former Sheriff Roger Vanderpool, a Democrat — two individuals who know better than anyone what it takes be a Pinal sheriff.

The primary responsibilities of the sheriff are to preserve the peace, provide law enforcement services to unincorporated areas of the county, maintain the jail and conduct search and rescue operations. I have extensive experience in all four primary duties.

My opponent has no experience in any of these areas of responsibility. Unlike my opponent, I will not support excessive government infringements into our county and your rights. There will be no unconstitutional firearm confiscations nor unlawful mask mandates in Pinal County.

I will continue to improve on policies and programs already in place to maximize effectiveness and performance. Based on my extensive experience at PCSO, I understand what works well and where we can improve.

I understand who I work for: you. The public and the voters of Pinal County.

With improved quality training, improved technology and equipment, and competitive pay, we will be able to retain more deputies, detention officers and support staff. The result will be increased professionalism, improved response times to emergencies and improved case resolution, keeping overall costs down.

I will continue the fight against drug and human smuggling, increase our patrol presence in rural areas, support our schools in anti-bullying and teen crime efforts, support the needs of our seniors, and openly and regularly meet with you in your community to listen and learn about your concerns.
