A Nevada-based gas station chain known for its loud branding is planning a 15,840-square-foot retail hub at the southeast corner of North Porter and West Bowlin roads. But first, they need Maricopa’s Planning & Zoning Committee to approve a zoning change.
Terrible’s, a Las Vegas-headquartered company, re-submitted plans for a new convenience store, gas station and car wash in Maricopa. This includes a peek at color elevations not previously seen when InMaricopa first announced the gas station in September.
According to documents filed with the City of Maricopa’s Development Services Department on Jan. 14, the new gas station would be built on a 3.55-acre lot currently zoned for Neighborhood Commercial use. Terrible’s is requesting a rezoning to General Commercial to accommodate the expanded footprint and retail features.
The design incorporates two expansive fuel canopies, each featuring five double-sided pumps, an 800-foot car wash and 6,284 square foot convenience store.
Other features include 47 total parking spaces, with accommodation for electric vehicle charging and ADA accessibility. Four future EV parking spaces will be prewired during construction, according to the submitted planning documents.
Terrible’s is famous for owning the largest Chevron station in the world, a 50,000-square-foot convenience store in Jean, Nev., that features a supersized beer cave, 72 soda heads and several boutiques decorated with everything from giant Bigfoot statues to James Bond’s Lotus Esprit.
At least three gas stations have been proposed in recent months for locations around Maricopa, including a Circle K on the southwest corner of Smith-Enke and Porter Roads.
The chain has 87 locations across California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. This would be Arizona’s third station for the Nevada-based gas station chain. The other locations are in Bullhead City and Parker, Arizona.
The proposed zoning change hasn’t been added to the Planning and Zoning committee agenda yet.
