Site work is underway on a new 24,000-square-foot clubhouse and event facility at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club, with vertical construction expected to begin in March.
The project, led by the Ak-Chin Indian Community, is scheduled to open in spring 2027 and will feature a contemporary food hall, an expanded Arroyo Grille, private dining rooms, a banquet hall, a larger golf shop, enhanced kitchen space, a bridal suite and an indoor golf simulator room with a GOLFZON simulator.
The simulator space will also convert into a gathering area for groomsmen during weddings.
The clubhouse was designed by Meyers + Associates Architecture of Columbus, Ohio. Arizona-based PIMMEX-CHASSE is handling construction, while Troon Design and Development is assisting the community’s Capital Projects team with project management.
Exterior design materials include exposed timber, natural stone, stucco and decorative concrete, paired with desert-inspired tones of sand, ochre and red. Planned outdoor features include patio dining areas, an event lawn, a fire feature, a reimagined putting green and a Halfway House between the ninth green and 10th tee designed as a drive-through market offering food and beverage options.
Ak-Chin Community Chairman Gabriel Lopez said the project reflects the community’s commitment to enhancing the guest experience.
“We are committed to continuing the tradition of providing best-in-state golf experience, expanding the amenities around our community, and delivering the region’s preeminent dining and event destination,” Lopez said.

The building centers on a main circulation axis connecting public spaces and framing views of the course and surrounding desert. Guests will move from the entry lobby through the food hall and event areas to a signature bar, covered patio and event lawn.
Meyers + Associates Principal Architect Chris Meyers said the design aims to “exemplify the community culture” while transforming existing facilities into a space forDUNE DEAL celebrations, dining and golf.
“The focus of the project was to enhance the culture of the Ak-Chin Community and offer a facility that brings people together for celebrations, dining and an exceptional golf experience,” Meyers said.
Project partners said the expanded clubhouse, new halfway station and upgraded cart barn will increase capacity for weddings, tournaments and large events while improving the golfer experience through updated check-in, merchandise and dining options. The halfway facility will offer grab-and-go food, restrooms and hydration stations intended to speed pace of play.
PIMMEX-CHASSE Business Unit Leader Eric Noble said Phase 1 construction began with a parking lot expansion.
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is managed by Troon Golf, the resort and daily-fee division of Troon.
