An Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper arrested a driver last week after clocking a pickup truck traveling over 100 mph on State Route 347 in Pinal County.
According to DPS, the stop occurred Tuesday when a trooper observed the white Ford F-150 traveling at a high rate of speed just north of Maricopa city limits.
Using a LiDAR device, the trooper recorded the vehicle’s speed at 102 mph in a posted 65 mph zone, DPS said.
The driver initially told the trooper his cruise control was set at 82 mph, according to DPS. He later said he was running late to a job site in Chandler.
Troopers also observed the pickup making multiple lane changes without signaling and passing other vehicles that were traveling the posted speed limit, DPS said.
The driver was booked into jail on charges of criminal speed and reckless driving, according to DPS.
Authorities said the vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded.
The stop is the second time this month a driver has been jailed after being clocked at more than 100 mph on SR 347, and the latest featured in DPS’s ongoing #SpeedingSaturday enforcement series. Earlier this month, DPS identified a Maricopa driver arrested after a trooper clocked a vehicle traveling 103 mph along the same stretch.

Unfortunately ten lanes could be built on the 347 and this will still happen.
Amazing that they didn’t lose control of their truck due to the poor condition of the 347.
