Sorry, Arby’s managers — this one wasn’t a prank.
Pinal County Environmental Health inspectors visited three Maricopa restaurants April 1, and only two came away unscathed.
A trip down Papago Road resulted in “excellent” ratings for Raceway Bar & Grill and Farmers Restaurant, but the same day at Arby’s on the main strip, inspectors issued the second “satisfactory” rating in Maricopa this year.
The drive-thru at 21600 N. John Wayne Parkway was cited for one priority violation:
At the time of inspection, the walk-in refrigerator had an ambient temperature above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepared foods inside were measured between 46 and 50 degrees. The person in charge provided temperature logs showing the unit was at 38 degrees at closing Tuesday.
Products prepared Wednesday were moved to a different refrigerator, and an embargo notice was issued for all items stored overnight in the walk-in. The unit was adjusted during the inspection and returned to 41 degrees or below before it concluded. The person in charge said a work order had been submitted for the refrigerator and was instructed to continue monitoring temperatures to ensure proper cold holding.
In last week’s report, inspectors rated 10 kitchens “excellent” despite one minor violation at a local chicken wing establishment.
What the ratings mean
Excellent: All priority standards are observed as compliant. Some nonpriority standards may be critiqued.
Satisfactory: One or more priority standards is out of compliance. All priority standards are corrected at the time of inspection.
Needs improvement: One or more priority standards is out of compliance and at least one violation is not corrected at the time of inspection. Once violations are corrected during a follow-up inspection, a satisfactory rating is issued.
Unacceptable: One or more violations is considered an imminent health hazard. When violations are corrected during a follow-up inspection, the rating becomes satisfactory.
