Auto Zone is looking to open a second Maricopa location. This one in The Wells shopping center at the northwest corner of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Porter Road.
The pre-application package was submitted by Upward Architects of Tempe for a proposed 7,372 square foot AutoZone retail building. The 1.55-acre parcel currently is vacant. Since the parcel is part of The Wells commercial development, no zoning changes will be required.
The plan calls for 36 parking spaces, well above the city-mandated 25 spots.
The current Auto Zone at 20886 N. John Wayne Parkway in the Maricopa Fiesta center opened in 2005. AutoZone is the leading retailer of automotive replacement parts and accessories in the U.S.
