Beloved MHS counselor honored after 20 years of service

Maricopa Unified School District is bidding goodbye to a beloved school counselor.

In a special recognition ceremony held Wednesday night at the district office, MUSD recognized Maricopa High School counselor Amber Liermann for more than 20 years of service. She was honored alongside 17 other retirees during the ceremony.

During her tenure at MHS, Liermann worked with students on mental health support and academic success. She recalled one student recently thanking her at Walmart.

“This young man came running up to me when he saw and he just threw his arms around me and he said, ‘Ms. Liermann, I’m graduating this year,’” she said. “He literally said, ‘It’s partly because of you that I’m graduating this year.’ Things like that are really meaningful. When students achieve goals big or small, that’s why we do what we do.”

During the ceremony, Liermann was awarded with a glass plaque for her service, an orchid plant and an array of hugs from colleagues, MUSD school board members and attendees.

Liermann, who also serves on Maricopa city council, said she plans to enjoy, “a little more flexible schedule and … spending more time doing city council responsibilities and duties.”

  1. She was payed to do a job like anyone else. Now she can be a lobbyist on the city counsil for MUSD full time.So the counsil is made up of two teachers,a past school board member and lobbyist,a man that can hardly speak or get around,a leftest BLM kneeling councilman on the corner and a local newspaper owner. And these so called leaders all have there own agendas that are NOT in the best interest of the homeowners(less all the leased and rented homes)in this tax and spend city.Somehow these and other members of their exclusive club are called stake holders. But the homeowner is just a tax base…not a stakeholder. The apartments are good for the MUSD tax growth. They are good for the only hospital where one of the counsil members is employed and bills AZ Medicare for uninsured patients. They are good for more votes for the liberal knee bender.Who knows what good they are for the one that is not well? And its really good for the newspaper guy.And the mayor..its all good for her.TERM LIMITS,FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE,and VOTING RECORDS FOR ALL VOTING OF MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL AND MAYOR ON ALL CITY BUSINESS.Oh and how about you lone us money for a house purchase like you did with Bitters…on the taxpayers back!!!Whoops,we’re not privy to the club and of course for sure not stakeholders. What BS
