Bone appétit: Bailey’s Barkery treats your pooch to woofles, pupcakes and more quality snacks

If you’re looking for a paw-sitively special treat for your pooch, you have a better local option than waiting in line for a pup cup at Starbies.

Homestead resident Kaela Glueck began baking and selling treats for the Maricopa canine community in 2022. There’s a reason she named the business after her 7-year-old German Shepherd, Bailey.

“I tried to buy a birthday cake for her a few years ago, but I just didn’t like the options available,” Glueck said. “They all had a lot of preservatives, salt, sugar and ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. So, I decided to make my own.”

That led to the creation of Bailey’s Barkery, a treat shop that focuses on providing all-natural, handmade treats for dogs. Glueck said one day she would like to have a brick-and-mortar shop, but for now, she is focusing on building her online store and local following.

“All of my treats are made with love. I care about what I’m putting in the treats, I care about the recipes I create and I want to make sure all dogs have delicious treats to enjoy,” she said. “I really take pride in what I create, and I try to make every treat and every experience special.”

Pup-cakes, woofles and more

The treats at Bailey’s Barkery could easily be mistaken for people food and while they are totally edible for humans, they are tailored to a dog’s palate.

Glueck said her most popular menu item is the peanut butter bones, a bone-shaped cookie made from all-natural peanut butter, whole wheat flour, baking powder and cinnamon. Customers can order the bones plain or topped with yogurt and carob icing.

Another popular menu item: carrot cake woofles. These are mini, gluten-free waffles made from a combination of chickpea flour, carrots, unsweetened applesauce, honey and a little cinnamon.

“Gluten is a common sensitivity for dogs, so I try to make sure I have a range of treats for different dietary needs,” Glueck said.

And then, of course, there’s the treat that started it all: the dog cake.

Bailey’s Barkery sells little cupcakes called pup-cakes and a round two-layer cake that can be color customized. Glueck said these are perfect for celebrating birthdays, gotcha days and other special occasions.

“They’re so yummy for dogs,” she said. “It has an apple cinnamon flavor and comes out looking so much like a human cake. It’s so cute, I love making them.”

Prices start at $8 for a pack of treats and go up to $20 for a custom cake. Orders can be made at BaileysBarkeryLLC.com and can be shipped around the country.
