After more than two years of construction, another rental community is ready to hang up their hard hats.
Construction is nearing completion at the Hampton Edison build-to-rent community at 45305 W. Edison Road and has already welcomed its first tenants amid finishing touches.
Paragon Development Group Executive Vice President Scott Turkington said watching the project blossom from an empty lot into a single-family home community over the years was satisfying.
“There’s a sense of pride because three to four years ago, you just saw dirt in a location that has a lot of potential,” he said. “But seeing the development and growth, there definitely is a sense of satisfaction, especially with feedback from the existing residents.”
Maricopa’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved plans for Hampton Edison in 2021 and construction began a year later.
About Hampton Edison
The community’s 151 units offer one, two and three bedrooms, and range in size from 645 to nearly 1,300 square feet. With the exception of a few duplex-style units, most are stand-alone buildings that feel like small single-family homes.
Add 10-foot ceilings, stainless steel appliances, private backyards and the solid concrete and steel construction, and you have a cozy rental home. That feeling is exactly what the developer wanted, Turkington said.
“Given what’s going on in the market with interest rates, some people are apprehensive to buy a home,” he said. “Well, this feels like a home and it fits a need for housing options the city wanted. It’s a nice hybrid between a traditional single-family home and higher-density apartments.”
But one of the biggest draws to the community, according to Turkington, is the location.
“We think we have the best community rental location in the city,” Turkington said. “Being in the Heritage District and giving our tenants the convenience to walk to Sonoran Creek Marketplace make Hampton Edison’s location even more ideal.”
