The city has extended registration for the 2007 summer baseball and summer basketball programs to May 25.

Maricopa has partnered with the Phoenix Suns to offer the Jr. Suns Summer League.

Each child who registers for basketball will receive a free ticket to a Phoenix Mercury game.

Team logo jerseys will be used instead of the traditional Jr. Suns jersey used in past leagues. The new jerseys will feature the logo of the most popular NBA teams on the market. Games will be played Saturdays at Maricopa High School.

In addition, summer baseball will offer t-ball and coach pitch leagues designed to prepare children for Little League. Each child will receive an official replica Major League Baseball Uniform with a jersey and hat. Games will be played at Pacana Park on Saturday mornings, and practices will be held during the evening after 5:30 p.m.

Parents can register their children at City Hall from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The registration fee for each program is $45 and includes a uniform for your child, trophy and end of season party.

Registration is open for all children in Maricopa, Hidden Valley, Thunderbird Farms, Ak-Chin and other surrounding communities. The City of Maricopa Youth Sports Program is designed to provide your child a quality experience while embracing the concept of “Putting Fun First.”

Don’t delay, sign up today. Games start June 23, and practices will begin the week of June 7.
