A construction worker was hospitalized this morning after being hit by a car in Amarillo Creek, a residential neighborhood 1 mile south of the city limits near Papago Road.

Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, Maricopa Police Department and Maricopa Fire/Medical Department responded just before 10 a.m. to a reported car crash on the 47000 block of Mellen Lane.

Medics on the scene tended to a construction worker for Desert Vista Inc., a Glendale stucco contractor, lying behind his company vehicle.

The worker was “outside his vehicle” when he was “hit by another vehicle,” said PCSO spokesperson Sam Salzwedel.

Reporters on the scene saw the medics load the man onto a stretcher and into an ambulance.

From there, he was transported to a hospital with “what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries,” according to Salzwedel.
