Get ready to dust off your cowboy boots for a good cause this summer.
The foundation behind the upcoming Open Arms Vocational Living Center will be hosting its inaugural “Dirty Boots and Dollars” fundraiser on June 27, 6 p.m. at Duke’s Roadhouse.
Money raised at the event will help fund the center, which is dedicated to providing housing and vocational skills for young men transitioning out of foster care or leaving unsafe living environments. Maricopa City Council approved a land lease for the facility in May.
Against Abuse advocate Torri Anderson announced the event during a city council call to the public Tuesday night. She mentioned several Maricopa teens are already seeking assistance while trying to graduate from high school.
“We’ve had several this year that are [high school] seniors and they aged out of foster care, and families said ‘bye-bye.’ They’re still scrambling to get done with high school, so we’ve scrambled. We’ve helped those young men out, but it is time for us to build our own facility,” Anderson said.
This is the foundation’s second fundraiser; they hosted an online auction fundraiser in January.
The event will feature a night of dinner and dancing, as well as a raffle. Tickets are $100 each and limited to 100 attendees, with business sponsorships starting at $500.
For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the center’s Facebook event page.

Is it just for men? Why not both men & women?
Well duh!!! Women have to just find a man that works and then cook and have babies. Men have to hustle.🤣😂🤣
