DUI suspected in 4-car crash: cops

Maricopa police are investigating a four-car crash on Maricopa’s main throughfare Thursday night.

Police and fire crews responded to North John Wayne Parkway and Cobblestone Farms Drive south at about 10:30 p.m., public safety spokesperson Monica Williams told InMaricopa.

Paramedics were seen pulling a person from a damaged Pontiac Grand Prix in the intersection before placing them in an ambulance.

A Nissan Altima had landed in the median just north of the intersection. It had damage to its rear and appeared to have hit an ornamental light and a gabion in the median.

A Toyota Camry’s rear bumper had been removed and was stopped just south of the intersection. A Kia Seltos, parked on Cobblestone Farms Drive, also had damage to its rear.

“One driver was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” Williams said. “The collision appears to be alcohol-related and a DUI investigation is being conducted.”

Southbound State Route 347 was closed between Cobblestone North and Cobblestone South. Traffic was rerouted through the neighborhoods.
