Face-covered females reported roaming Rancho Mirage, rattling residents

Police say no suspects found

A weekend Nextdoor post about four masked females repeatedly banging on garage doors and ringing doorbells in Rancho Mirage drew dozens of comments and prompted a police response, but authorities say no one was located and there are no leads at this time.

Brynda Blowers shared doorbell camera images Saturday morning showing two of the females wearing face coverings at her front door in the area of San Capistrano Avenue and Salerno Drive late the night before. She called the unexpected doorstep encounter “pretty bold and a bit frightening honestly,” and said she had notified police via the non-emergency line.

Blowers later clarified the individuals “might be young adults,” which she said made the behavior “even more concerning.”

The post quickly gained traction, with 73 residents weighing in before Blowers closed the conversation Sunday night. Commenters debated whether the veiled visitors were teenagers or young adults and urged neighbors to call 911 if they encountered similar behavior. Some expressed concern about potential burglary tactics, while others warned the masked visitors could be putting themselves in danger.

InMaricopa contacted the Maricopa Police Department to confirm whether officers responded.

A department spokesperson said Monday officers responded around 10:43 p.m. and checked the area. No one was located, and there are no leads at this time.

“The community is welcomed to reach out via our non-emergency line if they have information connected to this report,” the spokesperson added. “It’s also important for timely reports to be made of these such incidents so we can respond quickly.”

Blowers said in her final update that she had notified police and filed a report, calling the incident “EXTREMELY odd” and “highly disturbing,” but added she hoped it was “just ridiculous teenager debauchery and won’t turn into anything more.”

Police did not indicate any related crimes in the area and urged residents to report suspicious activity promptly so officers can respond in real time.

  1. As a long time resident of Maricopa since 2003, it has always been clear that there has never been anything that has been interesting enough for young men and women folks to do here. Bowling, arcades, and parks are things that don’t capture what they need. I’m not making any excuses for their lack of disrespect towards neighbors.

    1. Even the parks and stuff that we have aren’t much in themselves. The arcade at UltaStar has gone down in quality as the years have gone by. Overall, I heavily agree that we need more things to do here in Maricopa.
