A house fire earlier this month destroyed nearly everything a Hidden Valley man owned, including the tradesman tools he needed to work, according to a fundraiser organized after the blaze.
The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. at a home near Dune Shadow Road and Deer Trail, according to a Thunderbird Fire District after-action report by Division Chief Shane Burroughs.

Burroughs wrote he arrived at the south end of the structure and found the house “fully involved.” He initiated command, pulled a 1¾-inch hose line from the truck and began putting water on the southwest corner of the home to prevent the fire from spreading.
As more units arrived, crews attacked the fire from the south and west sides of the structure, along with small spot fires east of the property, according to the report.
Firefighters remained on scene cooling the structure and mopping up hot spots until about 11:15 p.m., when command was terminated.
The report listed 10 apparatus and 11 personnel on scene.

A fundraiser said Patrick Lewis lost nearly everything he owned in the fire. His mother, Theresa, escaped the home, according to the fundraiser.
“Most importantly he lost all of his tradesman tools,” the fundraiser stated. “These tools were not just possessions, they were essential for his work and livelihood.”
The fundraiser said money raised will go toward replacing Lewis’ tools, clothing and shoes so he can return to work.
The cause of the fire was not included in the after-action report.
