Maricopa-area bars and other booze-selling stores now have another form of technology to take that hassle out of getting carded.
The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division has joined with Arizona Liquor Licenses and Control to launch a Smart ID Verifier app that is free for retailers to download and confirm the ages of a customer purchasing alcoholic beverages.
One local business owner accepts the ID alternative already.
“It sounds like a good tool,” said Rand Del Cotto, owner of Raceway Bar & Grill on Papago Road in Hidden Valley. “I think it’s a great idea. I’m sure we can implement it in what we do. It’s easier than try to look at a fake ID.”
The smart ID app is already a digital option to prove your identity while going through TSA security at an airport. Now it can be used to prove you’re 21 and legal to indulge.
The digital application is new. To learn more about it see the link.
