Maricopa residents, businesses and local organizations will have a chance to clear out unwanted electronics later this month at a free Earth Day e-waste recycling event hosted by Electrical District No. 3.
ED3 is partnering with Agape Computer & Electronics Recycling and ACE Hardware for the event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon April 25 in the ACE Hardware parking lot at 21542 John Wayne Parkway.
The event is billed as free for nearly all accepted items and is open to the broader community. Organizers say the goal is to make electronics recycling more accessible while helping keep potentially harmful materials out of landfills.
Accepted items include most electronics with a cord, including computers, laptops, phones, printers, TVs, network equipment and small appliances.
Organizers also say free data destruction will be provided on all devices.
The only listed exception is older tube-style CRT televisions, which carry a $20 recycling fee.
Attendees can also bring aluminum cans to support Cans for Vets.
