Kruse Brothers cruise in to rock first Concerts in the Park gig

Acts for the first of two Concerts in the Park events on Oct. 19 and Nov. 2 were announced today.

Local artists Kruse Brothers, a bluesy folk rock Americana band, and Jaty Edwards, a rock-influenced country musician, are lined up for the first Oct. 19 Concerts in the Park show at Copper Sky Regional Park.

“We’re going to be highlighting some amazing Arizona-based bands in this Concerts in the Park series,” said City of Maricopa spokesperson Quinn Konold.

The free shows will include food trucks and boozy beverages. Concert-goers can bring their own food. Bringing your own booze is a no-no, but a bar will serve alcoholic drinks.

Parking is also free. The park is at 44345 MLK Jr. Blvd.

Foldable lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged with seating on the grass by the lake at Copper Sky. Pop-up canopies are not allowed.

Presenting sponsor Duke’s Roadhouse is now building a restaurant and Western dance bar in the former A1 Pawn Shop on Maricopa and Edwards Roads in the city’s Heritage District. The city is also a sponsor. Other sponsors are Harrah’s Ak-Chin, Orbitel Communications and Explore Pinal County.

Gates open at 4:45 p.m. and the entertainment goes on stage from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Entertainment for the second concert Nov. 2 is expected to be announced a month before the show, Konold said.
