Meet: Brittany Russell

Although she’s only been a Maricopa resident since 2024, Brittany Russell has already found what many residents cherish most about the city — its hometown feel.

Originally from Decatur, Illinois, Brittany now calls the Alterra community home, where she lives with her husband, Tyson, and their four children: three daughters and a son. Family is at the center of her life, and when she’s not working as an advertising specialist, you’ll most likely find her spending time with her kids.

Brittany’s household is also home to two energetic heelers, Kozmo and Karma, who help keep life entertaining. She drives a Nissan Pathfinder, perfect for keeping up with a busy family schedule.

One thing Brittany appreciates most about Maricopa is the sense of community and small-town atmosphere that makes residents feel connected. If she could change one thing, it would be adding more shopping options — specifically a shopping mall for local residents to enjoy.

When it comes to giving back, Brittany supports Veterans for Child Rescue, an organization dedicated to protecting children from exploitation and trafficking. Her favorite book, A Child Called “It” by Dave Pelzer, reflects her appreciation for stories of resilience and overcoming adversity.

A fan of classic entertainment, Brittany’s favorite movie is Grease, and actress Michelle Pfeiffer tops her list of favorite performers. When she’s looking for the perfect soundtrack, you’ll likely hear “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett playing. Italian food is her go-to comfort meal, and if she could travel anywhere in the world, she’d choose Paris.

One quote Brittany lives by comes from George Bernard Shaw: “Don’t wait for an opportunity; create it.” It’s a philosophy that reflects her proactive approach to both family and life.

As Brittany continues to settle into Maricopa, she’s enjoying building connections, raising her family, and embracing the welcoming community that has quickly become home.
