Getting to Know Kaydence Shipman
InMaricopa Intern
From Chicago to Maricopa, Kaydence Shipman has found a place to call home while building friendships, exploring her interests, and making memories along the way.
Kaydence moved to Maricopa in 2017 and says one of the things she loves most about living here is the friends she’s made over the years. While she admits there’s “not much to do” sometimes, the people she’s met have made Maricopa feel like home.
Family is an important part of her life. She shares life with her mom and dad, two brothers, and sister, plus her dog Daizy, who rounds out the household.
When she’s not busy with school or interning at InMaricopa, Kaydence enjoys spending time doing two of her favorite things: playing volleyball and reading. Her favorite book is Ugly Love by Ugly Love, showing her appreciation for emotional and engaging stories.
Travel is also high on her wish list, and her dream destination is Italy — a place she hopes to experience for its culture, scenery, and unforgettable experiences. Closer to home, one of her favorite getaway spots is Wilmington.
Her favorites give a glimpse into her personality and interests. She supports People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, enjoys the movie How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and counts Amanda Seyfried among her favorite actors.
Her playlist includes artists like Zach Bryan, Megan Moroney, Don Toliver, and Treaty Oak Revival. One of her current favorite songs is Bless Your Heart.
When it comes to sports, she cheers for the Green Bay Packers and looks up to Laney Choboy.
Food favorites? You can’t go wrong with steak and ribs, a Chipotle bowl, a Shirley Temple, and a visit to Texas Roadhouse.
One quote that stands out to her comes from Jelly Roll:
“The windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror because what’s in front of you is way more important than what’s behind you.”
And the words she lives by reflect a positive mindset:
“A negative mind will never give you a positive life.”
And because every great introduction should end with a laugh, here’s Kaydence’s favorite joke:
Why can’t you play video games in the jungle? Because there’s always a cheater.
