Moonlight community unveils amenity center

Kids raced to the playground and parents explored the neighborhood last week during the grand opening of Moonlight’s new amenity center.

The event, held April 16, brought in a crowd of people for food truck snacks, tours of the amenities and a chance to see the new subdivision at Smith-Enke Road and Moonlight Drive.

Dubbed Twilight Park, the center sits in the middle of the developing neighborhood. It features a branded community pool, pickleball courts, sand volleyball, a fire pit, ramada, walking trails and open flex fields for a wide variety of community events.

The huge playground drew the most attention.

“I think this is one of the nicest playgrounds here in Maricopa,” said Senita resident Daniela Perez, who brought her two children. “I love that it’s huge and has areas for the older and little kids.”

She said the visit even tempted her to consider moving to the city’s west side.

“This park is what’s making me think about moving,” she said.

The same went for Tortosa resident Teniecka Drake.

“The model home we toured was beautiful and I loved the mountain views,” she said. “My daughter was mesmerized by the zip line.”

The event also brought a new builder to Maricopa: Colorado-based Oakwood Homes. Director of Sales Michael Copper told InMaricopa they will be breaking ground on their first homes by the end of the month.

“We’ve been talking with the developer for months and we can’t wait to get started,” he said. “[Maricopa] is an untapped market and it’s a great place to make a splash and help people get into their next house.”
