Child on scooter involved in pedestrian crash, police investigate

UPDATE 4:46 p.m. Nov. 1, 2024 Maricopa Police Department spokesperson Monica Williams said a 17-year-old on a scooter was struck by the car at a low speed.

“He has no major injuries,” Williams said. “Just a few bumps and scratches.”

ORIGINAL STORY 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1, 2024 Maricopa police are investigating the scene of pedestrian versus car collision at Rancho El Dorado Parkway and Vintage Drive near Santa Rosa Elementary School.

“A kid ran into a car,” a police officer told reporters at about 3:50 p.m. today. 

An ambulance was on the scene and paramedics were attending to the youth, injuries unknown.

There was a steady stream of schoolchildren walking home to school in the area where the southbound lane of Vintage was blocked off, a reporter on the scene said. 

Two Toyota SUVs were parked by side of the road.
