ORIGINAL STORY April 28, 2026 The Contract Postal Unit inside the Maricopa Library & Cultural Center is temporarily closed after an unexpected hardware failure, city officials said this morning.
City employees are working with the United States Postal Service to restore service, but USPS has not provided a repair timeline or reopening date.
During the closure, residents needing postal services are being directed to the USPS location at 44920 W. Hathaway Ave. That location can handle package mailing, postage purchases and other postal needs.
The city said updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
The closure comes only months after the city struck a last-minute deal with USPS to keep the library postal counter open despite giving up most of the revenue it previously collected from the service.
