Early voter turnout in Pinal County for the July 30 primary election was 11% Wednesday with 28,966 ballots returned.
Pinal County Recorder Dana Lewis, who oversees elections, said Friday that early balloting was “on track” compared to other past primaries.
Of those total returns, 17,317 were Republican ballots for a 15.6% turnout, and 10,929 were Democratic, a 16.5% turnout. Other nonpartisan returns, neither Republican nor Democratic, totaled 2,605 or 2.6%.
Early returns, which reveal seniors 55 and older as far and away the largest voting bloc, were broken into the following turnout by age group:
- 18 to 24, 360 total, or 1.9% of voters
- 25 to 34, 911 total or 2.2%
- 35 to 44, 1,332 or 3.3%
- 45 to 54, 2,012 or 5.4%
- 55 to 64, 4,243 or 10.5%
- 65 to 74, 9,330 or 20.6%
- 75 and above, 10,273 or 27%
There are 261,854 registered voters in Pinal County, with more female voters (50.2%) than male voters (44.5%). Undetermined-gender voters amount to 5.8%.
Of Pinal County’s voters returning ballots so far, 11.7% were female and 10.1% were male.
