Dashcam video sent to InMaricopa by Tortosa reader Logan Beloat shows the aftermath of a double rollover crash on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway on Tuesday night, capturing the scene seconds before law enforcement arrived. The crash near Montgomery Road shut down the highway in both directions during the evening rush and left a Desert Sunrise High School teacher seriously injured.
Beloat’s video, recorded while driving past the wreckage at 5:22 p.m., shows two overturned vehicles in a roadside ditch with no police yet on scene. Debris is visible in the traffic lanes as other drivers slow to navigate around the crash. Later in the video, the first police units are seen whizzing by with lights and sirens activated.
The victim has been identified by students as an English teacher at Desert Sunrise. She did not report to school Wednesday. A DSHS student told InMaricopa the teacher was airlifted to a major Phoenix hospital and is stable with a long recovery ahead. We’re choosing to withhold her name at this time.
Witnesses on Facebook described watching a medical helicopter land on the highway to take a patient. Several drivers reported being stuck in traffic for more than two hours as the closure stretched well into the night.
Since Tuesday, InMaricopa has contacted Casa Grande Police Department, Arizona Department of Public Safety, Ak-Chin Police and Fire Departments and the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to determine which agency handled the scene. As of Thursday evening, none have accepted responsibility for the response or released any official information.
Beloat’s footage adds new clarity to a crash that has circulated heavily on social media but remains unaddressed by authorities. This story will be updated as soon as any agency confirms details.
