Maricopa family posts $2,000 in rewards for missing doodles

A Maricopa family is pleading for help after two beloved dogs went missing last week near John Wayne Parkway and Carefree Place in the southern reaches of Hidden Valley.

The two dogs — Karma, an apricot labradoodle with a white patch on her chest, and Ona, a black labradoodle with white markings on her chin and chest — were last seen around 4 p.m. on June 4. Both were wearing identical reflective collars.

“They’re our babies,” Liz Soto, whose mother owns the dogs, told InMaricopa. “They’ve kept my mom sane and helped her cope with grief after losing my stepdad. We’re desperate to get them back.”

The family is offering a $1,000 reward for each dog — $2,000 total — and says no questions will be asked.

Soto said sightings have poured in from multiple cities, including Casa Grande and even Scottsdale, where a woman allegedly admitted to having one of the dogs and showed no intent of returning it.

“We’ve had leads all over the place,” Soto said. “Initially, it was near where we lived, but now there are so many places to check.”

She also expressed concern about rumors of a Meadowview Road property that reportedly takes in stray dogs and euthanizes them if they aren’t sold. InMaricopa reported on the abuse of dogs in Hidden Valley in our December 2024 magazine.

“There’s been a lot of pressure with that,” Soto said. “We’re at the point where, like, if you have them, we don’t care. We will give you the money. We just want our dogs back.”

A witness last saw Karma, the brown labradoodle, being picked up by someone driving a white box truck leaving the neighborhood.
