ORIGINAL STORY 11:17 a.m. July 16, 2025 Emergency crews have flocked to the scene of a major crash on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway that resulted in at least one hospitalization this morning. Drivers are being detoured.
Maricopa police and fire crews were dispatched to a reported crash that required extrication near the intersection of Anderson Road just after 10 a.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch.
According to Maricopa’s public safety spokesperson, Monica Williams, three people were involved in the crash. Two of them were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Reporters at the scene observed a vehicle rollover just west of the roadway. The flipped car sat next to a damaged powerline. Witnesses say they pulled a teenager and her older sister, who was driving, out of a car window. Paramedics tended to a teen on a stretcher.
The car smashed into the pole as it came to rest, bending the pole, according to witnesses. Two people lost power due to the crash, according to Electrical District No. 3.
Williams said the power pole remains an active hazard. ED3 crews are on site and working with emergency responders to determine the next steps.
Traffic is being rerouted in both directions. Eastbound drivers are being diverted at Murphy Road and westbound traffic at Anderson Road.
The second vehicle, a yellow pickup truck, had significant damage to its front end and was missing a tire.
