Tortosa teen still missing after months: police

Tortosa teen Talesa Predmore, 17, was reported missing New Year’s Day.

Maricopa Police Department is still trying to find her five months later.

Talesa’s mother, Shannon Predmore, told InMaricopa everything was normal the last time she saw her daughter.

“I said goodnight to her, she said goodnight, and she wasn’t there in the morning,” Shannon said today through tears.

She said she believes her daughter is with 25-year-old Bennito Servian, her former boss at a local car wash. Shannon said the couple was last seen together Jan. 2 in Maricopa Meadows.

Servian was arrested on deadly weapons and endangerment charges in 2021 after he fired a gun inside his mother’s house, according to court records. The charges were dismissed one year later.

Shannon alleges MPD “kept asking me not to do anything” to notify the public her daughter was missing, but “I wanted to post since day one,” Shannon said.

She eventually shared a flyer of her own, with photos of her daughter, who is believed to be pregnant, and Servian, on social media websites this morning.

“Talesa’s mother recently contacted PD and asked about the flyer she created,” MPD spokesperson Monica Williams said today. “We could not use it because some of the information was not verified.”

Maricopa police searched the home of Servian’s mother, but did not find Talesa, Williams said.

When asked why Talesa’s disappearance was suppressed the last several months, Williams said the police department is judicious about how and when it shares information with the press.

“There are different instances with individuals who quote-on quote ‘go missing,’” Williams said. “Sometimes they are runaways; sometimes they are missing, truly missing, at-risk people.

“There’s a judgement that’s made when we push out information, because obviously if we’re doing this every single day for every teen that may just be at a friend’s house, the message may get diluted.”

If you have seen Talesa or know of where she may be, contact MPD at 520-316-6800 or dial 9-1-1.

“I think they’re still in Maricopa,” Shannon said.

Talesa is described as 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds. She has brown hair and multicolored eyes, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety

She has not contacted her parents or friends and has been inactive on social media since she left the home, according to an MPD memo released to InMaricopa today. The memo was previously shared to other Arizona law enforcement agencies.

“We’re still highly aware of her case, and we’re working with her family to identify where she may have gone,” Williams said. “We are also working with [Arizona Department of Child Safety] on the case to try to make contact with her.”

Police have not been able to contact Talesa since her disappearance but do not believe she is in danger.

She will turn 18 on July 19.
