A Verizon store is proposed for a vacant commercial parcel near Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and Stonegate Road, according to planning documents submitted to the City of Maricopa.

The project, listed as CSOK Maricopa, calls for a single-story, 3,000-square-foot retail building on a 1.12-acre site within the Stonegate Planned Development. Project materials describe the tenant as a national cellular service provider, and exterior elevations in the submittal show Verizon branding on the building.

The site plan lists one building with a proposed height of 24 feet. Plans show 20 parking spaces and six bicycle parking spaces.

A project narrative submitted by Hawkins Companies of Scottsdale says the site is currently vacant and graded, with nearby parcels developing for planned commercial uses. Those nearby parcels are slated for a TownePlace Suites by Marriott, Starbucks, Someburros, Farmer Boys, Panda Express, Wendy’s, O’Reilly Auto Parts and a dental clinic.

The narrative says the store is expected to have six to eight employees on site and operate daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Floor plans show a large sales area, along with an inventory room, break room and storage area, janitor closet, restrooms and a fire riser room.

Exterior drawings show a stucco-and-stone building with awnings, storefront glass and tenant signage on multiple sides.

The proposal is planned on the western edge of the Home Depot-anchored Stonegate development. It would be the city’s second Verizon store. The other is near Fry’s Marketplace on John Wayne Parkway.
