Two people were transported to a nearby hospital this morning following a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 347 near Riggs Road, the authorities said.
The collision occurred during rush hour on the northbound side of SR 347, a corridor known for frequent accidents. Emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the roadway. The highway has since been reopened to traffic.
The extent of the injuries was not immediately released. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Province resident Margo Saltzman said there was a 10-mile backup around 10:30 a.m. Alterra resident Ronald Busch described SR 347 as “pretty much shut down.”
Witnesses described at least three cars impacted in the crash, including two yellow maid-service vehicles.

In November, Stacker analyzed intersections in the Western U.S. between 2004 and 2022 and found that the SR 347 intersection at Riggs Road was one of the 10 deadliest in the West.
