Heads up, Maricopa residents. Improvements are headed to John Wayne Parkway starting this month.
Construction crews will begin work on upgrades at the intersection of John Wayne Parkway and Cobblestone Farms Drive, including improvements to the traffic signal. The project is designed to improve access to nearby businesses such as Chipotle and Starbucks.
The initial phase includes building a connector road from the intersection to the businesses. Because of this, drivers likely won’t see any impact to their commute for the next few months.
“Only once that is completed will work move to the intersection as the traffic signals are modified and the new southbound turn lane is added,” said Maricopa Communications Coordinator Luis Vila in a video yesterday.
Another component of the project includes installing a digital message board on northbound State Route 347 to provide live updates on travel times and road conditions.
Dates have not yet been announced for either improvement. InMaricopa has contacted the city for a start date.
“We anticipate movement by the last week of January [or] first week of February,” a spokesperson said.
