Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has released drone footage showing the moment deputies arrested Javier Gomez after the regional SWAT manhunt in Hidden Valley that InMaricopa first reported last month.

The video, posted to the sheriff’s office Facebook page, shows Gomez standing with his hands on his head as four armed and armored members of the Pinal County regional SWAT team move in and take him into custody on a dirt property littered with refuse.

The arrest followed a domestic violence call shortly before 9 a.m. Feb. 17 in the 48900 block of Whirly Bird Road in Hidden Valley. Deputies said the suspect ran and hid on the property when they arrived.

The response escalated to a regional SWAT activation and a multi-hour search that shut down Amarillo Valley Road near Clayton Road.

Gomez, 38, was taken into custody shortly after noon that day, according to PCSO. New court records show he is a San Marcos Drive resident

Deputies said the suspect was already under investigation for a previous domestic violence incident and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest at the time they responded to the call. Records show he has multiple prior criminal cases in Pinal County Superior Court and Maricopa’s Western Pinal Justice Court.

The newly released aerial footage shows the final moments of the search as Gomez surrenders and SWAT officers secure him.

Court records show Gomez pleaded not guilty March 6 to seven criminal charges, including strangulation, aggravated assault, burglary and drug offenses. The records indicate he may have been released that day under certain stipulations, but a letter from Superior Court sent to his self-reported Apache Junction address was returned four days later. The jail roster shows him in custody today.

PCSO captioned this morning’s video: “You can run, but you can’t hide.” Watch it here:
