A student at the Maricopa campus of Central Arizona College was awarded a book scholarship this fall.
Kaleigh Ward, who is studying for her associate of applied science degree in nursing, was one of 20 CAC students systemwide to receive the scholarship through the collaborative efforts of the English and Student Services departments.
Students from any major could apply. They were required to submit a 250-300 word essay on how CAC has helped them, as a student, achieve their educational goals. Students had to be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours for the fall semester, achieved a grade of B or better in ENG 101 and declared a program of study or major.
