Five candidates are competing for two seats on the Maricopa Unified School District governing board this fall. Here’s what they say about their backgrounds, why they’re running and the issues they would prioritize if elected.
Loraine Conley
Rancho El Dorado
A longtime educator and former MUSD administrator, Conley has 33 years of experience in education. She says she’s running to continue serving students and families, with a focus on student achievement, educator support and fiscal accountability.

Patti Coutre
Glennwilde
A Maricopa resident since 2005, Coutre has served on the MUSD governing board for more than 14 years and currently serves as president. She is seeking re-election, citing academic achievement, safe schools, strong educators and fiscal responsibility as priorities.
Lisa Garcia
Ak-Chin Indian Community
Garcia has served on the MUSD governing board for the past year and is seeking to continue in the role. A longtime Maricopa resident and Ak-Chin Community Council member, she says her priorities include student instruction, supporting MUSD’s schools and advocating for families.
Latrinda Williams
The Villages at Rancho El Dorado
A mother, military veteran and longtime community volunteer, Williams is making her first run for the governing board. She says she would focus on tying district spending to student outcomes, working with the superintendent and strengthening district policy.

Nicolas Yendrzeski
Alterra
A 2024 Maricopa High School graduate, Yendrzeski is the youngest candidate in the race and says his experience as an MUSD student shaped his decision to run. His priorities include civic education, communication and the use of technology in schools.
