MPD makes kids’ Christmas wishes come true

Maricopa Police Department, in conjunction with the Maricopa Police Foundation, held its annual Shop With A Cop event Saturday morning.

This event is a “heartwarming opportunity for our local community to witness the magic of the holiday season in action,” according to the city.

More than two dozen deserving children were specially invited to participate, giving them the chance to shop for themselves and select gifts for their family members, all with the assistance and support of dedicated law enforcement officers.

The atmosphere at the event was “joyous and full of festive spirit as these children are given the chance to experience the joy of giving during this special time of year,” the city said in a statement. “Their interactions with law enforcement officers create lasting memories and foster positive relationships within our community.”

The children received a police escort down Porter Road, ready to shop at Walmart. Police Chief Mark Goodman attended along with several of Maricopa’s finest.
