Two people were injured this afternoon after a UTV rolled over on the dirt patch along Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway between the roadway and the railroad tracks.

The accident was reported at 3:36 p.m., according to Phoenix Regional Dispatch, at the corner of MCG and Maricopa Groves Parkway.

Two adults were injured including a man who sustained serious injury. Both were taken to a Valley hospital, said the city’s public safety spokesperson.

Maricopa police were speaking to a man in a reflective vest who seemed to be involved, likely as a witness. Police were measuring the distance between the UTV and a nearby electrical pole.

Heavy winds were blowing dust. Two fire trucks and police were on the scene, creating a traffic slowdown for eastbound traffic, mostly due to rubberneckers.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
