Today’s new episode of Fridays with Frank opens without small talk.
“You’re under arrest.”
Pinal County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Sloup delivers the line as he walks up to a silver Ram pickup he had just clocked at criminal speed on Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.
“You passed me at 100 miles an hour, so you’re under arrest for criminal speed,” Sloup tells the driver. “That’s what you get.”
The driver offers a meek apology.
“You’re only sorry you got caught,” Sloup responds.
“Yeah, I know. I get it,” the driver says with a chuckle.
Sloup later describes the MCG as “one of the most dangerous roads in Pinal County.” In just the last month, it has been the site of a series of devastating crashes and a shooting earlier this month in which a woman was shot, and a man was shot in the head.
The driver tells Sloup he did not realize how fast he was going and says he was trying to pass another vehicle.
“It’s been a bad day,” he adds.
Sloup issues the driver a criminal speeding citation for traveling 99 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour zone. The citation carries mandatory court, scheduled for Feb. 9 in Maricopa.
Sloup was driving an unmarked Ford Mustang GT during the stop, joking that his usual Explorer was in for an oil change. He describes the car as “super sneaky.”
During the interaction, the driver’s demeanor shifts when he realizes who pulled him over.
“I thought you were Officer Frank at first,” the driver says, adding that his wife watches the show regularly.
When it sinks in, the driver laughs again.
“She’s gonna kick my ass,” he says.
The episode includes a second traffic stop involving another MCG driver clocked at 82 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour zone, 32 miles over the limit.
The driver tells Sloup he is on his way to see his daughter, who he says is in the hospital with asthma. Sloup questions the explanation, noting the speed still qualifies as criminal.
After several minutes of back and forth, Sloup decides to reduce the enforcement action, issuing a non-criminal speeding citation instead. He identifies the driver as a Maricopa resident before sending him on his way.
Within five hours of posting, the video had drawn 7,500 likes on Facebook and 10,000 likes on YouTube.
Fridays With Frank is a recurring Pinal County Sheriff’s Office series that follows Sloup during traffic enforcement and patrols, often blending humor with blunt messaging about road safety. Episodes regularly rack up hundreds of thousands, and sometimes millions, of views across YouTube, Facebook and TikTok.
Sloup has said the goal of the series is simple: Stopping criminal speed on roads like MCG, before the next crash does it first.
